It's Fridayaaaayyy!

Wow, what a week!! Achieved a lot this week and definitely feel it.

Brief snapshot :

- conquered chop sticks
- used my Thai (properly)
- successfully bargained with a shop keeper at MBK. yeah that's right, white boy won. Boom!
- went to the gym 3 times
- went on a motorbike
- did some sneaky clothes shopping
- bought morning tea from the street markets all by myself
- tried even more bizarre foods
- caught the metro/subway
- bought a bts rabbit card (like a gocard - means I'm Legit local)

I can't deny it, I secretly but not secretly love this place. So, so much!

Photos, photos, photos...... They are pretty self explanatory but I can guarantee they do not do what I see justice. Yes the city is dirty and yes I have to turn my eyes at certain things, but overall.. I like!

This weekend will be exciting, I think it's massage time and a bit more sight seeing. My new friends are organising all these outtings over the next few weeks so I'm all booked up! :)

Stay cool!

This morning when I woke up and looked out the window I saw clouds. What the! The first time in 3 weeks it has been overcast. I thought maybe that means I'm able to use the hotel branded umbrella in my wardrobe...... Wouldn't that ooze of tourist????? Not even. Anyway, you'd be pleased to know they cleared quite quickly. Yay!

As a side note, I would also like to inform you that my chop stick skills have greatly improved. So much so that I only use chop sticks to eat at lunch now. That's right! No fork for this guy. Brings a whole new meaning to get forked!

Lunch today was tom Yum with rice noodles and probably half the Chili bush. I say half probably because the other half was stuck up my nose. Anyway, it was delicious, not too spicy, but definitely had a little something something to it.... Mmhmm!

I've included a pic of our lunch dig today. The guys call it the Korean noodle place, only because the owner is Korean but married a Thai. They don't serve Korean food, only Thai. You do the math!

The cute mumma in the pic cooks the food at the front of the shop. No fridges, potentially limited hygiene.... Adds to the flavour.. :)

As I write this pretty woman is showing on the TV, so forgive me for being distracted. Julia Roberts! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

And that's it. That's me. That's Wednesday. See you on the flip side.

Monday?

Nothing too special to update you on - only that it's starting to get a wee bit hotter. Like, the kind of hot where you can just start feeling that sweat under your shirt - but not excessively. Bliss!

Protests wise, despite the news almost stating that Bangkok is in a crisis, Umm, I can confirm it's slightly over dramatised! Yes, there are certainly dangerous areas, particularly around the protest sites, however outside of them everyone is happy, smiling, laughing and living life. The locals say it's #businessasusual, so, get on with it! The closest rally site from me is about 1.5km away, which is definitely far enough! Very quiet here actually! Surreal.

On a side note - on my walk to work this morning I passed a Buddhist giving locals blessings on the footpath. They had to take their shoes off and he would Bless them. So, so cute!

Enough of my blabber for now though. Picture time!!!!
